Technology

Bluegrass Live! allows students to gain fluency with technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity. By using the message boards, students will be able to collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, experts, and other audiences through the Internet. Bluegrass Live! lets students use technology as a research tool to locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources.

Language Arts

The content of the site provides an array of dynamic text information that is constantly updated. Students will look forward to reading information submitted by some of today’s top performers and writers in the music industry. In addition to reading the dynamic content on the site, students will also have many opportunities to enhance their writing skills. For example, students can rewrite song lyrics to popular bluegrass songs and compose lyrics to original songs that can be shared with peers around the world for critique.

Performing Arts

Bluegrass Live! will provide students with a greater understanding and appreciation for this increasingly popular form of music. The audio files and photographs encourage students to build connections and learn about the various instruments and sounds that are used in bluegrass music. The informational content enhances music education programs by providing facts and examples of music reading and notation, music composition, and critical response to music.

Social Studies/ History

Bluegrass music has a rich history and its unique sound is influenced by numerous cultures and musical styles. Through studies in geography, social history, and the arts and humanities, students will learn about the historical explanations for differences among people in the past and today.
