Through this program, students will learn to: |

| Use knowledge of the performing arts in the
study of language arts, history, social science, mathematics and technology |

| Define and use appropriate music vocabulary |
|
| Identify characteristic features of the performing
arts of native populations and immigrant groups to America |

| Listen to and describe aural examples of music: specifically
the style, historical, geographical and cultural context and instruments of bluegrass
music |

| Identify the sounds and historical origins of a variety of
instruments, including the fiddle, banjo, bass, guitar, mandolin, and dobro |

| Describe the purpose for which music is and was created,
and where appropriate, interpret its meaning |

| Work cooperatively and collaboratively with peers in their
class as well as with students at other schools |
|
| Use technology tools (e.g. word processing programs,
multimedia authoring software, digital cameras, and/or scanners) to increase productivity
of individual and collaborative projects |

| Create appropriate multimedia projects individually or with
support from teachers, family members, or student partners |
