Through this program, students will learn to:


Use knowledge of the performing arts in the study of language arts, history, social science, mathematics and technology

Define and use appropriate music vocabulary

Identify characteristic features of the performing arts of native populations and immigrant groups to America

Listen to and describe aural examples of music: specifically the style, historical, geographical and cultural context and instruments of bluegrass music

Identify the sounds and historical origins of a variety of instruments, including the fiddle, banjo, bass, guitar, mandolin, and dobro

Describe the purpose for which music is and was created, and where appropriate, interpret its meaning

Work cooperatively and collaboratively with peers in their class as well as with students at other schools

Use technology tools (e.g. word processing programs, multimedia authoring software, digital cameras, and/or scanners) to increase productivity of individual and collaborative projects

Create appropriate multimedia projects individually or with support from teachers, family members, or student partners
