Marie-Lou Poisson

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Full year

On this trip I hope to learn a lot more about myself, the world, and all kindsof people. I think the biggest challenge will be to live with a lot of peoplein a very restricted place for a long time. If something happens betweenpeople there is no choice but to face the problems. Some of my hobbies arereading, swimming, and going out with my friends. I do not know what I'm goingto do after Class Afloat because the experience may change what I want to do.

Nathan A. Boersma

Smithville, Ontario, Canada
Full year

I believe that the biggest challenges I will face on Class Afloat will be trying to do school work while sailing at the same time. Working hard while facing sleep deprivation will also be hard. I am excited to see exotic places and cultures first hand. After this year I hope to attend a college or university and further my interests in business.

Jean-Pascal Pelletier

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Full year

My English is not very good and I think that will be the hardest part of the voyage for me. I like swimming, downhill skiing, eating, and rollerblading. Some day I would like to go to a university. Studying while sailing is something I look forward to very much, as long as I learn English quickly!

Josh Remillard

Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada
Full year

I love the ocean and am very excited to be participating on Class Afloat. My main goal is to become an expert in marine biology and oceanography. I believe the biggest challenge I will face on board will be living with 4 other people in the shoe-box cabins. I believe Class Afloat will make me a better person which is also one of my goals.

Stephanie Desmeules

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Full Year

Some of my hobbies include hiking, horseback riding, skiing, SCUBA diving, and sailing. I hope to learn a lot more about sailing and foreign cultures through Class Afloat. I also hope to be bilingual by the end of the voyage. Only sleeping 5 hours a day is what I see as the biggest challenge of Class Afloat.

Cassandra Ruff

Red Hook, New York, USA
2nd Semester

This will be my first semester aboard the Concordia. I heard of the program from a student newspaper that circulates throughout New York. I have no sailing experience but I do like sports including skiing, field hockey and swimming. I haven’t decided what I want to do with my life after graduation. I hope by the time this voyage is over I'll have a better understanding of myself and some of my career goals.
