Zebras' stripes are as distinctinve as a person's fingerprints: no two are the same. When they feel threatened, zebras cluster together to confuse would-be predators with their stripes. The clustering of the stripes can make the zebras appear more formidable then they actually are, and can give the predator a difficult time when it trys to discern one animal from the group.
