I always dreamt about traveling and seeing other countries. I found this opportunity aboard the Concordia in the Class Afloat program. I sailed as a child with my father and brothers on a sailing dinghy and later I joined my university yachting club.

Since I graduated with a chemistry degree my original career was not sailing. Sailing and yachting were only hobbies as I worked on research at the Technical University in Szczecin. When I retired I had time to join the Concordia. But even before I used to spend all my free time, including sabbatical leaves, sailing on different types of yachts starting from dinghies to ocean going yachts. At first it was racing, but later I started longer voyages. These included courses across the Atlantic Ocean and on the Pacific Ocean and also a long trip around the North American continent through the so called Northwest Passage in the Arctic. Thanks to my sailing hobby I experienced a lot of adventures and I saw distant countries, different cultures and some remote places like Angel Falls in Venezuela, Macchu Picchu in Peru, and Eskimo Villages in the Arctic. Class Afloat extended these experiences to many other places in the world.
