Great American II has three expert doctors from Tufts-New England Medical Center advising Rich, Rich, John, and Pierre. They will be available by satellite communications should the GAII crew need medical advice at sea. Dr. Barnewolt conducted a special seminar for the crew on topics in emergency medicine, such as wound stitching, splinting, burn treatment, & CPR.

First Aid Kit: Great American II carries an excellent first aid kit called the Trans-Ocean Kit.
Ship's Medical Kit: Prescription list was developed by our team of advisors:
- Meclizine for seasickness/vertigo
- Transderm scopalaine for seasickness
- Augmentin for skin/oral/dental/urinary infections
- Cipro for GI/GU infections
- Azithromycin for respiratory infections and sinus/ear
- Prednisone for allergy/asthma
- Zantac for ulcers
- Silvadene cream for burns
- Erithromycin is an eye antibiotic
- Tobromycin for eye/ear drops
- Lidocaine solution is a local anaesthetic
