| Robert Nierman,
M.D., F.A.C.S., C.M.C.E. Medical Director, Tufts Health Plan Robert S. Nierman, M.D., F.A.C.S., C.M.C.E., is the Medical Director for Clinical Coverage at Tufts Health Plan. He is responsible for general coverage policies and the evaluation of emerging technologies for safety, effectiveness and coverage. His other interests in healthcare are in the areas of Behavioral Health, Lifestyle Change, Mind-Body Medicine and Obesity. For the five years prior to coming to Tufts Health Plan, Dr. Nierman was founder and Clinical Director of a multi-disciplinary practice for the treatment of obesity, combining medical interventions with intense lifestyle counseling to successfully treat over 1,000 patients. Dr. Nierman is also a Board Certified General Surgeon. He practiced General Surgery for eighteen years in Malden, where he served as Director of Surgical Education and Chief of Surgical Services at Malden Hospital. He is a Professor Emeritus in Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Nierman resides in Lexington, Massachusetts with his wife Merle and has two married children with two grandchildren. |
