Hello! My name is Summer Collier and am currently a student at Occidental College. I decided to be a biochemistry major because I couldn’t decide between the fields of Biology and Chemistry. After focusing on chemistry for the majority of my first two years at school and an internship in organic chemistry this summer, I decided it was time to dive into the world of marine biology and field studies. I have always loved the water and can’t live for very long away from an ocean or river. I learned to scuba dive when I was eleven and have loved it ever since. I grew up in Northern California where the ocean is very cold, and I have been free diving for abalone with my father and sister since I was fourteen. I am excited to apply my skills and enthusiasm and see if studies in the South Caicos gives me more direction on what kind of scientist I want to be.
