Floating Water - Salt Water/Fresh Water Experiment

Did you ever wonder why you can float better in the ocean than in a lake? It's because salt water is more dense than fresh water and can support you better. Here's an experiment: Get two glasses of fresh water. Dissolve three tablespoons of salt in one and put yellow food coloring in it. Put blue food coloring in the glass with the fresh water. Get a dropper and carefully drip the fresh water into the salt water. What happens? Why? Is there any mixing of colors? Why do you think? Have fun! Get wet!
