Food Webs

All living things can be organized within a food web. We can classify things as producers (organisms that generate food), consumers (organisms that eat other organisms), and decomposers (bacteria or fungi that break down the remains of dead plants and animals). Think of an organism that is an example of each of these classifications. Next, find pictures of these and other organisms that belong to each classification in magazines, newspapers, the Internet, or draw them yourself. With the knowledge that a food web is like a series of interconnected food chains, create a diagram or collage with the pictures that you have collected or drawn. Label each picture according to its classification, and then draw lines between connected plants and animals to create a food web.
