Julia DaviesFaculty
Julia Davies has a Ph.D. in Marine Biology from James Cook
University of Northern Queensland, Australia and an
undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from the University of
Liverpool, England. Her research and publications have focused
on the population structure of squid fisheries using genetic and
traditional approaches, and have involved much collaboration with
government fisheries departments and commercial fishermen. She has taught biometrics and
marine zoology in Australia (James Cook University) and has worked for a sailing school in the
Canary Islands and as a reef guide and scientific illustrator. Prior to joining SFS in July 1996, Julia
was working as a science and diving officer for a marine conservation project in Indonesia.
