The School for Field Studies is giving me the chance to learn outside of the traditional classroom setting and the chance to gain some of that knowledge adults call experience. Over the years I have learned that lessons taught in textbooks can only teach so much. To really understand the nature of things we must combine the wisdom and the personal experience that our teachers have, with the work in the field.. Now I am going into the real world to explore and study the important lessons taught by each of my teachers, while beginning to better understand these lessons for myself.

The world of nature has always been fascinating to me. When I was a kid, my favorite T.V. shows were nature shows. At three years I wanted to be a whale doctor. I spent many childhood days boating, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing and hiking. In college I've tried my hand at scuba diving and rowing. Now my sense of adventure brings me to South Caicos, to meet 29 new friends and share the excitement and discovery with them. Together we'll learn what we can do to assure that the outdoors, which we have enjoyed as kids, will be there in the future for others.
