from Cincinnati, OH

Currently I am majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences and am particularly interested in the biological aspects of these disciplines. The Marine Resource Management program interests me because of the opportunity to learn from and work for an organization dedicated to the environment, while at the same time investigating areas for possible future employment. Studying and working in the British West Indies will provide me with hands on experience that is not available inside the traditional classroom setting. Furthermore, it will give me a better understanding of the management of marine life and resources.

Not only am I enthusiastic about being involved in marine research, but I also have a desire to promote a greater understanding of how human interactions impact the fragile balance of sustainable ecological systems. Because the center seems to share these goals, it will be the ideal place for me to apply my energy and knowledge.

I attend Wesleyan University and my course work includes biology, geobiology, invertebrate paleontology, chemistry, oceanography, climatology, geology, math, music, art, history and a variety of other areas. Some of my interests include backpacking, snowboarding, kayaking, SCUBA diving, and music archiving.
