My name is Lisa Murphy. I am a third year Biology Major at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. I am mainly interested in Marine Biology. I have spent a lot of time studying the marine life in my island home of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. I am very excited about taking a break from all this cold winter weather and studying the tropical marine environment.

When I am not doing biology, I enjoy sailing and swimming. My favorite foods are scallops and pizza. I have a dog, a bunny, and, of course, several pet fish. My favorite marine animals are crabs, and dolphins, and sharks. I have never seen a dolphin up close. I did see several sharks when I went snorkeling in Anguilla last January. Fortunately they were not interested in us at all. I think sharks are neat, but I'm not sure how close I'd like to get to one.

I plan to be a marine scientist when I graduate. In my spare time I'm going to write books for children set in seaside towns. I look forward to working with all of you. Hopefully we will learn a lot of new things about the ocean and have fun too!
