Charles Smithwick hails from Laurinburg, North Carolina, USA, and he graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in biology, with an emphasis on marine biology. He has experience in both marine education and site facilities management, making him well-qualified to execute his duties as a site manager at the South Caicos Island site. He has several SCUBA certifications, first aid and CPR certification, and he enjoys sailing, water polo, playing guitar, and fishing.
