3/26Another day of calm weather! Students tour the uninhabited east side of the island. Some walk the beach while others snorkel at a new coral reef.
3/25After a solid month of rough weather, the seas have finally calmed down!
3/24First day back after spring break in the Dominican Republic. All are tired and happy.
3/18Students will be on vacation from March 18-23. They will resume their studies and research when they return from vacation.
3/17It is finally raining! Students take exams all morning and afternoon, and then they pack up for spring break in the Dominican Republic.
3/14Everyone is studying hard for the case study final exam.
3/13Fresh fruit arrives at SFS as the food supply is replenished. There is much rejoicing!
3/12Staff and students are still wishing for rain, because it has been so long since they've had a drop of it.

3/7Students complete long-distance endurance swim to Dove Key and see eight humpback whales breaching one mile away.

2/25Rough weather due to cold front is finally breaking. Students and staff finally get to SCUBA dive.
2/24Students and staff play their best against the formidable local soccer team. They eke out a tie: 0-0.
2/21Students attend open forum discussion about the regional fishery. The Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas will work together to manage the fishery harvest for exportation.
2/18Cold front passes through bringing heavy rain. Tin roofs are noisy!!
2/17Toured the island and visited historical sites. Saw flamingos, ospreys and fish.
2/13Students see Caribbean Reef Shark during Field I.D. Students conduct preliminary Directed Research work with professors.
2/11Finally beginning to understand real problems facing the island in Resource Management; students choose Directed Research Projects.
2/10First soccer game with locals on Sunday - we lost but stayed competitive!
2/7Gone to visit a mangrove island and snorkel in surrounding waters. During a snorkel last night, encountered our first two green Moray eels!
2/6Strong ocean currents curtails our diving. Many students showing effects of intense tropical sun.
2/3Sea Wasps gone, planning rescue training this afternoon.
2/2Water training canceled due to dangerous Sea Wasps (Carybdea alata) in swimming area. Rescue Training must wait until tomorrow.
