Cathy Bierly
SFS / sitesALIVE! Intern

I am from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, a predominantly dairy farming community. Growing up, my love for animals and the outdoors sparked my interest in science. I am a 1997 graduate of Dickinson College where I was a Biology major/Education minor. The summer prior to my Junior year in college, I had an internship in which I studied the endangered Allegheny Woodrat. I enjoyed this so much that I wanted to continue doing field research, however I wanted to move to a new and unfamiliar environment. This is how I ended up at the Center for Rainforest Studies.

After an amazing experience with Center for Rainforest Studies, I decided to try for an intern position. I am very excited to be back in Australia and working for the Center. Living in a community which is completely submersed in the habitat in which you are studying insures that everyday is a learning experience. I look forward to using my biology and education background in assisting the students, while at the same time learning something new as I partake in research and teaching.
