Sarah Good Vassar College

My name is Sarah Good and I am going to be a junior at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. When I am not at school, I live in historical Cooperstown, NY. This town of about 2,000 people is set in the rolling hills and valleys of the Leatherstocking area. It is set on James Fenimore Cooper's "Glimmerglass" (also known as Otsego Lake) which is the source of the Susquehanna River. Cooperstown is also the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, which attracts many tourists every summer.

I am a Biology major, who is primarily interested in the delicate balance that exists in the natural environment. Rachel Carson inspired me with her book 'Silent Spring' and it is this concern and interest for the environment which led me to chose the School for Field Studies, Rainforest restoration program in Queensland, Australia. I believe that the unique ecological system in Australia provides the perfect place for me to pursue my education in the area that I love. I am looking forward to an exciting and insightful semester!
