Hi! My name is Jonathan Kusumi. I am a junior at Pomona College in Claremont, California, but I will be studying in the rainforest of Queensland, Australia, with thirty other students from across America for one semester.

I am originally from Denver, Colorado, so the rainforest will be quite a change for me to say the least. I have some apprehensions about being in a strange habitat with many potential dangers and completely immersing myself in difficult studies. However, this is the opportunity of a lifetime and a chance to continue my studies in biology.

Currently, my major at Pomona is biology. I plan to either continue studying biology or environmental studies after college or attend medical school. If this experience in the rainforest is as positive as I think it will be, it will help me to decide if I want to participate in similar field studies in the future and spend my life studying biology and the environment.
