Tufts University My name is Melissa, but most people call me Mella. I am origianlly from Basking Ridge, NJ, but now I spend most of the year up in Boston where I go to school. I am a junior at Tufts University studying anthropology and environmental studies. I have a very strong interest in both fields, even though they may sound unrelated. I originally chose to go on this program for several reasons. First off, I know it will give me a strong background in environmental field research, so I can decide if this is something I might want to pursue in the future. I have also wanted to learn more about rainforests ever since I went to The Big Island of Hawaii during high school to study the rainforests there. That experience definitely had a huge impact on me. Finally, I guess one of the biggest reasons that I chose to go on the SFS program was the fact that I love to travel. I just never guessed I would be spending my semester abroad in a place half way around the world! All in all, I know it will be one of the best experiences of my life (except for the plane ride.) |
