My name is Melissa Barker and I am from Novelty, Ohio. I currently attend Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. I play soccer, alpine ski and cycle for Middlebury. I am an environmental studies major with a U.S. policy concentration and an economics minor. I chose to go on the School For Field Studies Rainforest Ecology program because I wanted a hands on field work experience. In my environmental studies classes at Middlebury I have learned a lot about the depletion of species, especially in the rainforest. SFS offers an opportunity to actually work in the environment that we will be studying. It will also be an opportunity to live and work in the natural environment with about thirty-five other students who all have a concern for our environment.
