Intern
I grew up in the rugged Rocky Mountains of
Colorado where a fondness for wildlife and the
out of doors led me to study field biology at The
Colorado College. A life long dream was
realized when, in 1994, I visited Africa and
studied wildlife management at The School for
Field Studies in Kenya. Convincingly addicted to
biological fieldwork, I returned to the U.S. to study the ecology of Yellowstone National Park
and finish my degree in Biology. After graduating, I spent several months working for the
University of Colorado monitoring the breeding behavior of the Lewis' Woodpecker. In 1996,
searching for adventure and employment, I found myself living at sea and working for the National
Marine Fisheries Service in Alaska, monitoring commercial fishermen. The job was exciting and
challenging but soon the lure of Australia beckoned. I rejoined the SFS team as an Intern in July
of 1996.
