I am participating in the SFS Rainforest Studies program to experience
an amazing semester of hands on learning and field work. You cannot
acquire the same experience from a text book in a classroom as you can
in the field. I have always wanted to go to the field. I have always
wanted to go to Australia, which persuaded my decision.
My goals for the program are to learn everything I can about the Australian Rainforest and
policies of its use, reforestation, wildlife, etc. With this knowledge I hope to make
accomplishments and new discoveries to help preserve and maintain the rainforest.
I am a junior in college at the University of Colorado in Boulder. While school and work take up
most of my time, I still find room for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities. I also love to test
my skills in the kitchen and create a good meal. I am very interested in many environmental issues,
including wildlife, deforestation, population growth, and pollution. I enjoy learning everything
about policies made effecting these issues and their purposes and roles in the ecosystems.
