Springer Fyrberg
Pomona College
from Honolulu, HI
Springer Fyrberg is currently in her senior year as an evironmental
science major at Pomona College. She is spending this semester in
Australia in hopes of learning the techniques she will need to use as a conservation biologist in
Hawaii, where she grew up. She plans to work in Hawaii's forests attempting to control invasive
plant and animal species in order to preserve the native species. Springer enjoys sports and
spends much of her free time hiking, surfing, and body-boarding. She is also very concerned
about the future for today's youth, and volunteers her time as a tutor and mentor at several youth
organizations, and has spent several summers working as a camp counselor. In the past, Springer
has tried to do her part for the environment by joining her high school environmental club, writing
to Congress, and organizing campus recycling, beach clean-ups, and tree planting. She beleives
the most important thing you can do for the environment is to live simply, educate yourself, and tell
others about how much a healthy earth means to you.
