I am Jonah Ibson from Chevy Chase, Maryland. While not studying English and Philosophy at Skidmore College, I am either playing basketball, drawing, painting, writing poetry, hanging out with my sisters Miriam and Zoe, hiking, camping, canoeing, cooking chili, or watching the Star Wars trilogy. I love spending time in the outdoors, which is one of the reasons I chose to spend a semester in the Australian rainforest. I have never seen a rainforest before, and I am incredibly excited to observe the interconnectedneses of the ecosystem firsthand. I believe that it is impossible to understand something without experiencing it with all five senses. So, when I decided that I wanted to learn about the rainforest, I knew that I had to go there to do so. Someday, maybe I will work to protect natural resources like the rainforests. Then again, maybe I'll be a fisherman on a boat in Alaska, or a schoolteacher in rural Jamaica, who knows?
