I am an Environmental Sciences major and a Pre-Med student at the University of California at Berkely.

My area of interests include environmental and social justice issues. I am particularly interested in environmental design strategies that minimize the use of natural resources and provide solutions to environmental problems in an equitable manner for all people. For example, the use of wetlands as sewage treatment facilities and water purifying systems is a possible solution which can be utilized by First, Second ,and Third World countries and is a naturally occurring process. This is just one example of possible solutions I am interested in studying.

I chose to participate in the Rainforest Management Program for several reasons. First of all, I have the opportunity to immerse myself in a different culture and meet people from various backgrounds and experiences. In addition, this program is structured around teamwork and I believe this is a very important aspect of life. Teamwork teaches us to respect each others' differences and idea and this allows us to come together to make positive changes.
