Meg McKelvie
Colby College
from Wilmington, DE
My name is Meg Mckelvie and I live in Wilmington, Delaware. I went to a
Quaker school called Wilmington Friends from kindergarden through ninth
grade. Beginning my sophomore year in high school I went to a boarding
school in Newport, Rhode Island called St. George's. I continued on to
Colby College where I am a junior and an American Studies major. I
chose to be a part of the tropical rainforest program in Australia because I have a strong interest in
the environment and a desire to learn firsthand about different problems and issues. I love the
outdoors, and I am very excited about spending a semester living and working in different types of
natural areas. At the end of the semester I would hope to be confident in my own awareness of the
environment, and my capacity to educate others about what I have learned. As a member of the
tropical rainforest program, I think that I will be able to take my experiences with National Outdoor
Leadership School, Outward Bound, and Student Conservation Association to a much higher level
of understanding.
