Davidson College My name is John Roe, I am from middle Tennessee, and I am a junior at Davidson College in North Carolina. I am a biology major with an emphasis on the natural world, concentrating on ecology, animal behavior and other aspects of the environment. When I heard I could go to Australia to study the rainforest, I jumped at the opportunity. Not only do I enjoy learning new things about nature, but I love to live as close to the outdoors as possible, for I spend most of my free time fly fishing, hunting or kayaking. The preservation of rainforests, as well as other threatened ecosystems, is a central concern in making earth an habitable place in years to come. I hope to expand my knowledge on the workings of ecosystems and to learn new low impact ways to live in conjunction with the natural world. I look forward to the friendships I will form with my mates as well as the many new things that I will learn from them. |
