Hi, my name is David Stern. I am from Rockville, MD and am currently a Junior at Colby College in Maine. I am a Biology major with a concentration in Environmental Studies. My interest in the sciences and in particular the outdoors has been formed from spending many summers in the northern woods of Minnesota as well as several intensive canoe trips in the Canadian wilderness. After college I am tentatively hoping to pursue a career in which I can use economics to help benefit the environment.

I first became aware of SFS during my Sophomore year through my academic advisor. I had planned on going away during my Junior year but, was rather unsure as to where I wanted to go. I had other friends who had attended the SFS program in Costa Rica and absolutely loved it but, I figured if I was going to go abroad then I should go to someplace completely different. Thus I decided on the Australia program. My decision was also fueled by the desire to explore other parts of Australia, as well as New Zealand, after the program.
