Description
In 1849, the great clipper Sea Witch, Captain Robert 'Bully' Waterman in command and racing for pride and profit, sailed from Hong Kong to New York in the unimaginable time of 74 days 14 hours.

In spring 2003, Rich Wilson, with Rich du Moulin as his sole shipmate, departed Hong Kong aboard the 53' trimaran Great American II to challenge Sea Witch's record: south through the South China Sea, transiting the Sunda Strait, westbound across the vast Indian Ocean, and rounding Cape of Good Hope for a final 7500 mile sprint northwest to the finish. With 8 million newspaper readers and 250,000 schoolchildren in tow through a live education program created by Wilson and sitesALIVE!, GAII raced across the oceans of the world, in pursuit of the clipper and her billowing clouds of sail. With the lead exchanging hands 7 times (Wilson had Captain Waterman's Log to measure GAII's daily progress), GAII caught Sea Witch in the final week and set a new record of 72 days 21 hours.

4 hours on - 4 hours off - with just a two-man crew for 1749 hours and 15,271 nautical miles. Sea snakes, water spouts, flying fish, albatross, the Southern Cross, pirates, oil platforms, ships and fishing vessels all played a role. All the while, Wilson and du Moulin wrote 12 newspaper columns, 21 personal journals, answered 77 questions, sent in 70 pictures, 72 audio reports and 10 video clips to the millions rooting them on.

Hear Rich tell the story of this epic adventure, its utter demands on one's intellectual, emotional and physical capacities, and its inspiring effect on schoolchildren across the country and overseas.
